The city

The city of Independencia has been committed to the Global Covenant of Mayors since 2015. Independencia will become a commune adapted to climate change and focused on at least a 30% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions to achieve harmony with the current ecosystem and its inhabitants. This will be achieved through an empowered community with a sense of environmental responsibility, ed by local environmental policies consistent with regional and local policies, in line with regional and national policies, involving diverse community actors, both public and private.

The Environmental Secretariat, in collaboration with Sercotec and the Sofofa Hub’s Circular Territory program, has created the Circularity Calculator, a tool that aims to encourage the adoption of circular practices and business models to increase the positive socio-environmental impact and improve the economic efficiency of micro and small businesses in the country. This calculator is a free tool that allows measuring the level of circularity of a company by analyzing the actions implemented during its production and service processes.
